Determine your carbon footprint?

A carbon footprint is the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused by an individual, event, organization, service, place or product, expressed as carbon dioxide equivalent.

To discuss your organisational footprint just reach out and we’ll be able to help you understand your emissions.

There are three carbon footprint scopes

Scope One

These are carbon emissions that come directly from producing a product or delivering a service. An industrial example would be burning fossil fuel on site to produce heat for power or steel. Individually, emissions from driving your car or using a gas oven are considered to be direct.

Scope Two

Scope two emissions are those which come from upstream, indirect sources when manufacturing products or providing a service. Examples include the electricity needed power a site and utilities. Turning on the lights in your home or doing the laundry would fall into this category.

Scope Three

These emissions are more difficult to quantify and usually have the greatest impact. They are associated with the supply chain of operating a business. It considers the downstream activities such as employee travel and product and waste transport. This considers the emissions related to transporting the food you eat or clothes you wear.

Determining your carbon footprint can help you understand and quantify your emissions in relation to global warming. This will help you or your organisation identify opportunities to reduce these emissions in the first instance, and subsequently offset your residual carbon footprint when it is necessary to do so.
